We were tasked to develop a Museum for the Portland Waterfront at Naito Parkway to take advantage of their open land and transform the public park into a public library. The final design was developed to create large open windows for a view towards the ocean, removable walls, and open spaces for exhibitions. This museum would be used by the public to display personal artifacts, giving accessibility for the community to display and share history. This project was developed using site analysis (Noise, Temperature, Sunlight projections, wind, and noise), square footage constraint, and abiding to a program for each space (bathroom, office, staircase, lobby, courtyard, etc.).
This building is three stories and includes a roof prism and outdoor courtyard that can be able to display a cafe, restricting and giving the public an opportunity to eat while not disturbing others while observing art. The model and floor plan were developed using hand sketches, physical models, Revit, and 3d printed models.
